对于 some of the books, many of the students, most of the trees 等最好理解，由于 of 后面是复数名词，some of the books 是指某些书中的一些；many of the students 是指某些小孩中的大部分；most of the trees 是指某些树中的大部分。
假如 of 后面是不可数名词，也好理解。如：some of the money, much of the his time 等。
但假如 of 后面是单数可数名词呢？也可以如此用吗？
假如 of 后面是单数可数名词，也可以如此用，但前面只可以用 some, much, most（可用于修饰不可数名词的限定词），不适合one, two, several, many（可用于修饰可数名词的限定词）。如：
Some of his story is not true. 他讲的状况有的虚假。
Narrative makes up most of the book. 这本书的大多数篇幅都是叙述性的。
She told them most of the story, but kept back the bit about her uncle. 她把事情大多数都跟他们讲了，但隐瞒了有关她叔叔的那一小部分。
Much of the film shows the painter simply going about his task. 这部电影大多数都在描述那位画家怎么样完全沉溺于我们的工作。
