He set up a new world record in September 1935 at Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah. Bluebird, the car he was driving, had been specially built for him. It was over 30 feet in length and had a 2,500-horsepower engine. Although Campbell reached a speed of over 304 miles per hour, he had great difficulty in controlling the car because a tyre burst during the first run. After his attempt, Campbell was disappointed to learn that his average speed had been 299 miles per hour. However, a few days later, he was told that a mistake had been made. His average speed had been 301 miles per hour. Since that time, racing drivers have reached speeds over 600 miles an hour. Following in his father's footsteps many years later, Sir Malcolm's son, Donald, also set up a world record. Like his father, he was driving a car called Bluebird.我的疑问1:'in September 1935 at Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah. '，难道Utah前不需要加in吗？ 譬如at the park in Shanghai. 城市前就加了介词。我的疑问2:那种情况下可以像此类' at Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah.'如此， 一大一小两个地址同时在一个句子中可以只用一个介词。我的疑问3:2008年我在北京，I was in Beijing in 2008. 像这类地址和时间同时在一句中并且介词是一致，那样是否可以省略介词。变成I was in Beijing, 2008.

当地址状语包括大小不一样的地址时，第一个地址用介词，后面的区、县、市、省/州、国家等地址名词只用逗号即可，介词省略。比如：

He lives in Zhongguancun Street, Haidian District, Beijing，China.

in a park in Shanghai 中，a park并非地址。

I was in Beijing in 2008. 二个in, 一个表示时间，一个表示地址，意义不同，自然不可以省略in。

问题补充：

你对时态的理解一直脱离句子实质语境。这个句子是对前一句话的说明，用过去进行时表示他创造记录时开的车是蓝鸟车。这不是短期习惯使用方法。用目前完成进行时为错误。

第三提醒你，不要试图修改原句。你的修改要么是不对的，要么就不是原来的意思。你精读课文，要严格根据原文的时态理解句义，学习具体时态或句型的准确含义，不要用其它结构替换，只有如此你才能真的学到不同表达之间的差别。
