【六】动名词在There be 句型的具体运用
there + 不定式 to be 或there + being形式，称为非限定存在句，可以作主语、宾语、介词补足成分。
【1】作主语
There being a railway station in the town is a great advantage.
镇上有个火车站，真便捷呀！
“there to be+NP” 复合结构作主语时，一般用for作引导词:
For there to be a mistake in a computer’s arithmetic is impossible.
计算机计算错误是不可能的。
It was seldom for there to be no late comers.
新来者极少没迟到的。
For there to be so little cash in the wallet was strange.
（= It was strange for there to be so little cash in the wallet.)
非常奇怪他的钱包里只有这么少的现金。
【2】作宾语
A.作动词的宾语
there to be常可用作expect, mean, intend, want, prefer, like等动词的宾语，一般称之为复合宾语，其意义常表示对以后的一种意愿或期望，但现在还没有“存在”。
Susan prefers there to be no discussion of her private affairs.
苏珊不愿人讨论她的私事。
We expect there to be no objections.
大家期望不会有人反对。
Would you like there to be a hospital near your home?
你想在你家附近有家医院吗?
Do you expect there to be any objection to our suggestion?

I’d prefer there to be more cooperation.

She doesn‘t hope there to be any quarrel between me and her.

there being常用在deny, appreciate, mind, imagine, admit等跟动名词的动词后作宾语。
She denied there being any misunderstanding between them.
她不承认她们之间有任何误会。
You can imagine there being a hot discussion about it.
你可以想像得到大家对此会有一场激烈的讨论。
The committee anticipated there being less debate in the second discussion.
委员会期望在第二次讨论中争议能少一些。
B.作介词的宾语
There being 多用作介词宾语，介词不是for，则用there being形
There is now little hope of there being a settlement of the border dispute between the two countries.
没期望能解决两国边境争端。
What’s the chance of there being an election this year?
今年进行选举的可能性有多大？
We have no objection to there being a meeting here.
在这儿举行会议，大家不反对。
特别备注：There being可以用作一个介词的复合宾语,跟 There to be不同
A:There to be总是表示现在没存在的事物;
B.There being则一般表示已经存在的事情。
The Chinese are proud of there being the Great Wall in North China.
中国人以在中国北部有个长城而自豪。
但在介词for后时通常用there to be形式，并容易见到于“It be + adj, + for there to be”句型中。
He has arranged for there to be a taxi to pick them up at the airport.

【3】there + being形式还可以用作状语分句，形成独立主格结构：
There being no further discussion, the chairman stood up and left the meeting-room.
没可讨论的了，主席站了起来，离开了会议室。
There having been no rain，the stream was dry. 一直没下雨，小溪都干涸了。
There being no evidence of his crime, the prisoner was set free.
因为没他犯罪的证据，这个囚犯被释放了.

There being nothing to do, we went home separately.

特别备注：“there be...”句型的难题在于它的非限定形式, 如何分辨用there to be 和there being 呢? 两个要素是重要：它们在句子中的成分及与句子中其他成分的搭配关系。如非限定形式的第2小点中的例句：anticipate与there being搭配，而expect 和prefer与there to be搭配。
