set off 作"动身"理解时,它的后面必须要加for, 不能直接接名词吗?
那若是副词 home 呢?set off home 还需要加for 吗?
setoff 表示“动身”时，后面接名词必须要有介词 for。如：
We set off for London just afterten. 刚过十点，大家就动身上伦敦去了。
I set off for work at seven. 我七点钟动身上班。
后面接副词 home 时一般也有介词 for。如：
Then they set off for home. 然后他们就动身回家了。
The week before I set off for home wasrather foggy. 我动身回家的前一周大雾弥漫。
Having said farewell to their friends，theyset off for home. 向朋友们告别后，他们动身回家。
但有时也确实可以见到 set offhome 的例子，依据ENGLISH PREPOSITIonAL IDIOMS的作者Wood博士的解讲解：setoff home和set off for home都是可以说，前者意为starton the homeward journey（动身往回家的路上走），后者意为setoff in the direction of home, with the object of ultimately arriving there（朝家的方向出发，强调目的）。
