这两种使用方法都可以，只不过typically American 的使用方法更多见。副词typically 修饰American，假如用形容词typical， 则是修饰American writers. 事实上两个意思差别不是非常大。类似的如：a peculiar American innocence/ a peculiarly American innocence.
